Florida Winter Equestrian Festival Pulls Plan for a Resort Hotel
Developers behind a proposed Equestrian Village project in Wellington, Florida have backed away from their plan to construct a resort hotel. According to the Palm Beach Post, Mark Bellissimo of Equestrian Sport Partners, which was behind the project, decided the hotel had no chance of passing the new city council. Three new members were recently elected to the council and all three campaigned against the proposed development.
Equestrian Sport Partners has been seeking to build a large equestrian commercial complex on old polo grounds in an area that is an equestrian preserve. Many city residents have opposed the project on the grounds that the large commercial enterprise will destroy the solitude of the equestrian community.
