Young German Rider Kristina Sprehe Takes Big Win at Dortmund CDI

Young German rider Kristina Sprehe, 25, took on a field of veteran competitors in Dortmund, Germany and rode away with a big Grand Prix win with her partner Desperados (by De Niro x Wolkenstein II), an 11-year-old Hannoverian stallion. All five judges gave her first place in the Meggle Grand Prix Special, which put her ahead of such top riders as Laura Bechtolsheimer and Ulla Salzgeber. Sprehe and Desperados scored an 81.978 in the Special. Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris scored 81.04 while Salzgeber and Hersuf’s Erbe scored 79.00 for third place. Sprehe, a student from Dinklage who has been zooming up the ranks with Desperados, was overwhelmed by the victory.

The Meggle Champions dressage series is sponsored by Marina and Toni Meggle and consists of nine legs in 2012. Twenty-five riders from seven nations participated at this year’s Meggle Champions. In the final 17 riders competed from four different nations.
