(British Dressage) – The first 2012 Premier League show is underway at Myerscough College near Preston, Lancashire with Melissa Chapman, Stacey Munson and Becky Moody already winners after the first day of competition. Running 8 – 11 March, the show continues today with a mammoth eight-hour Prix St Georges and with names like Anna Ross Davies, Ruth Edge, Peter Storr and our very own European Team Gold medallist Charlotte Dujardin in the entries, it will be a close affair.
Saturday will be a great day with action at Inter I and II level plus a Shearwater Potential International Dressage Horse qualifier for four year olds. Becky Moody has already booked a ticket to Stoneleigh this morning with her 2011 four year old champion Carinsio with a win in the five year olds. The Young Riders get a chance to shine and vie for selection in their Team test in the afternoon. When dark falls, the ticketed musical gala evening gets underway and Becky Moody features strongly again as she’ll be bidding for a hat trick of wins in the PSG, Inter I and Grand Prix freestyle classes. If you haven’t booked your tickets, you can buy them on the gate for £12. Contact 01995 642115 for availability.
Sunday features youth with FEI team tests at Pony and Junior levels plus the Grand Prix which looks an interesting class. Crowd favourites Steph Croxford and Mr President are back in action after a year’s layoff while Richard Davison debuts his wife Gillian’s Hiscox Aliano at this level. Also in the mix are Charlotte Dujardin with the huge Tatler, Paul Hayler, Roland Tong and Henry Boswell.
Visitors to Myerscough College can watch the action in comfort with fixed heated seating for up to 400 people in the international arena and a cafe serving hot food and drinks. The onsite tack shop and show trade stands give dressage fans the chance to indulge in a spot of retail therapy between classes.
