Wellington Council Allows Global Dressage Festival for Winter Season
News out of Florida is that the Village of Wellington Council voted to allow the Global Dressage Festival to be held this winter at the new dressage facility built by Equestrian Sport Productions (ESP) at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
The village council met and voted on the issue on August 14. Residents who had opposed ESP’s plans for a large equestrian village and resort, had recently come out saying that while they had opposed the resort and shopping complex they were not opposed to dressage competitions being held at the show facility. Thus, it was no real surprise that the council approved the holding of dressage shows at the venue. However, in an open letter, resident Lou Jacobs, who had opposed the resort complex, stated that while he supported dressage competition at the site, he requested limitations on hours and types of activity at the venue. The council did not support these requests.
The dressage series, officially called teh Adequan Global Dressage Festival, will run from November 1, 2012 to April 30, 2012.
