Hayley Beresford in Court to Fight for Spot on Australian Olympic Dressage Team

According to a report from The Australian (www.theaustralian.com) Olympian Hayley Beresford is in court battling for a spot on the Australian Olympic Dressage team. The Australian states that “Beresford is alleging Equestrian Australia changed is nomination criteria between Olympic qualifying events in Germany (May) and France (June), which resulted in her being left out of contention.”

Kristy Oatley has earned a spot on Australia’s team and Beresford is particularly challenging that decision. Among her points is that Oatley is ranked238 in world dressage rankings, while Beresford is ranked 111, that the team was to be picked by a “shadow” team that was named in March but Oatley was not added until April, and when Oatley’s horse fell ill she was given an exemption from competition but Beresford was not when in a similar situation.
