Illness Will Keep Rath and Totilas Out of Competition at CHIO Aachen

(German Equestrian Federation – The German Equestrian Federation has announced that that due to illness Matthias Alexander Rath will have to skip the competition at CHOI Aachen, which also means that Totilas will not compete as well. Rath has mononucleosis and now needs 12-14 days of rest. Rath’s father, Klaus Martin Rath will keep Totilas in training while his son recovers.

The German Equestrian Federation also reports that Dorothee Schneider and the 10-year old Hannoverian-bred mare Diva Royal will now move onto the German team for Aachen. Aachen is the second mandatory selection trial for the German Olympic Dressage team. It is reported that German national dressage coach Jonny Hilberath and team vet Dr. Cordula Gather will visit Rath and Totilas next week to check on Totilas’ state of fitness and training condition.
