$7 Million Bond Deal Keeps IPCPB Founder John Goodman From Immediate Imprisonment

Palm Beach, Florida – John Goodman, the founder of the International Polo Club in Palm Beach and a sponsor of the 2012 World Dressage Masters that was held in Florida this winter, was sentenced Friday to 16 years in prison for killing 23-year-old Scott Wilson in a traffic accident in February 2010. Goodman had been driving under the influence when he hit Wilson’s car, pushing it into a canal. Goodman fled the scene, leaving Wilson to drown in the canal.

But the Palm Beach Post reports that Goodman has managed to avoid immediate imprisonment while he appeals his case by agreeing to a $7 million bond that includes covering the cost of hiring off-duty police officers to keep track of him. According to the Post, Goodman will pay $3 million and his brother and sister will pay $4 million.
