(British Dressage) – Over 200 of the country’s best young riders headed to The College Equestrian Centre in Bedfordshire for the inaugural High Profile Under 25 Show 24 – 25 March. The 27 classes included specialist BYRDS rider tests and prelim to FEI Young Rider level with riders ranging from eight to 25. These competitions are usually part of Keysoe’s Premier League fixture but with the calendar so packed and the Olympics later in the year, Simon Bates and his team were given the go ahead to run it as a stand-alone.

Recent Young Professionals Award winner Alex Hardwick continued her excellent run of form taking three classes including wins with Calvin G in the FEI Young Rider Team and Freestyle tests. Charlotte Fry was another triple winner who won both Dressage Deluxe Medium Qualifiers so is well on the way to securing a Regional Final place with Z Flamenco. She also claimed the Junior Freestyle with Ghandi.

Ten year old Emily Atkins dominated both Fledgling rider tests – scoring a phenomenal 93.57% on Saturday and 84.14% on Sunday. The Centaur Position Perfect Prelim qualifiers belonged to Phoebe Osborn and My Favourite while Victoria Maw and Bon Rouge CH claimed both B Squad rider tests.

Organiser Simon Bates commented; “I’m very happy with the way the show ran. It all seemed to go remarkably smoothly despite long days and such a wide selection of tests. It was an honour to have Spanish FEI judge Rosa Garcia-Maurino with us for the weekend. British Dressage have agreed we can run this format again next year and we will be adding a U25GP – so get practicing! Oh, we hope to have sunshine booked again next year too!”
