WDN News Wrap – New Ride for Edward Gal and Portugal’s Gonçalo Carvalho and Rubi Take Grand Prix Win in Spain

By Lynndee Kemmet – According to the German publication Keine Zeitung, rumors that Totilas might go back to Edward Gal are absolutely not true, so says Klaus Rath, father of Totilas’ current rider Matthias Alexander Rath. Gal has a new sponsor Glock, which is giving him strong financial backing and that has led to rumors that his sponsor could afford to buy back Totilas, but Klaus Rath says the horse is not for sale and that Totilas is now part of the family.

Glock did, however, get Gal a new mount. According to news on Gal’s website (www.edwardgal.nl) his new ride is the 11-year-old Glock’s Undercover, previously called DUPP Undercover. Undercover, trained by Stefano van Zuijlen, was sire by the famous dressage stallion Ferro. Gal reports that the horse is still green in the Grand Prix but knows all the movements and he’s quite confident that Undercover “looks very promising.”

In international competition, Portugal’s Gonçalo Carvalho and Rubi won Friday’s Grand Prix competition at the CDI3* in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain with a score of 73.660. Taking second was French rider Jessica Michel riding Riwera de Hus to a score of 72.383. Third place went to the Spanish pair of José Daniel Martin Dockx and Grandioso with a score of 70.255.
