New England Dressage Association to Sponsor Forum on Equine Law, Insurance and Taxation
(NEDA) – The New England Dressage Association is hosting a workshop on Saturday, March 10 for equestrians to help educate them about important issues related to equine law, insurance and taxation. The workshop features attorney Kathleen Reagan, Scott Lombard from Corinthian Insurance and certified public accountant Carol Gordon. Among topic questions to be addressed are:
Q: Who is responsible for having Worker’s Comp insurance for the trainers who work in my barn?
Q: If a client’s horse is injured and I contact the vet to arrange treatment for the horse, can I be held responsible for the costs?
Q: How should I classify the workers at my barn and what are my responsibilities for paying taxes and submitting forms to the IRS?
The workshop starts at 1:00 pm and will be held at Elysium Farm in Harvard, MA. Costs are $20 for NEDA members and $25 for non-members. Current NEDA Flextime Instructors are free but must pre-register by email.
