2012 Spring Symposium Olympic Bronze with Carol Lavell & Michael Poulin April 27 – 29th

The Symposium

Come to the Spring Symposium to hear what it was like to train for and medal in the Olympics. What is the relationship between student and teacher in our sport of dressage. How does the relationship affect the learning and development of both horse and rider, whether training for the top or for your own personal goals.

Format for the Spring Symposium is being formulated now. It will likely include workshops with demonstrations in the ring, lecture, and perhaps even audience participation. Poulin and Lavell will share their experience and wisdom as long-time devotees of the art of dressage and training methods that have proven results for both amateurs and professionals.

  • -Learn how to work on your position and see a rider lunge lesson
  • -Learn Lavell’s “Lateral Ladder,” a set of exercises to develop the horse and/or rider through the levels of lateral work
  • -Learn the basics behind training the 3Ps, Piaffe, Passage, and Pirouettes
  • -Learn the aids for movements and how to understand their affect on the horse
  • -Learn how to interpret and use the Training Scale to guide your riding

The 2012 Spring Symposium will have something for everyone, amateurs and professionals. And, if you have any specific topics you’d like to see covered, please drop the NEDA Education Committee a note. This is your opportunity to help create the educational event. Some of the format will also be driven by the rider applicants, if you have a particular problem that you are trying to work through, consider applying
