Top Scores for Canada’s Boylen, Creech and Irving at Gold Coast Opener Festival

Ottawa, Ont., Jan. 21, 2015 — For the second weekend in a row, Canadians received top scores at the FEI level at CDI 1* Gold Coast Opener Festival, held Jan. 15–18, 2015 at the Global Dressage Stadium at Palm Beach International Equestrian Centre, in Wellington, Fla.

In the Prix St. Georges class, Canadian Olympian Christilot Boylen, originally of Toronto, Ont., finished in fourth place, with 68.237%, riding Donatella 79 (De Niro x Canaster I), a 10-year-old Oldenburg mare owned by Jill Irving and Windhaven Farm. Boylen was also fifth (68.184%) with Soccer City (Sir Donnerhall x Weltmeyer), an eight-year-old gelding also owned by Irving and Windhaven Farm. Diane Creech of Caistor Centre, Ont., finished in seventh place, scoring 67.263%, riding Diana C (Damsey x Brentano II), an eight-year-old Hanoverian mare owned by Douglas Leatherdale.

With Donatella 79, Boylen was also the top Canadian, finishing in third place, in the Intermediate I test (70.237%), while Creech and Diana C were fifth overall with 67.579%.

Irving of Moncton, N.B. earned 69.350% in the Intermediate I Freestyle test riding Dio Mio (De Niro x Charmeur) a 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Irving and Windhaven Farm.

The international judging panel included Liselotte Fore FEI 5*(USA), Gabriel Armando FEI 4* (ARG), Bill Warren FEI 3* (USA) Cara Whitham FEI 5* (CAN) and Stephan Clarke FEI 5* (GBR).
