Wellington Classic Dressage Kicks Off 2015!

January 3-4, 2015 marked the first event of the dressage season held at the Global Dressage Stadium in Wellington, Florida. As a Great American/USDF Qualifying Competition including Para, AA, JY/YR, Pony, FEI Five & Six YO Tests in addition to Training Level through Grand Prix, the event was well attended.

John Flanagan stated that they are very excited about the upcoming season and “had a great turnout for the kick off show at GDF.”

It was a blue ribbon day for Lisa Wilcox, and such a pleasure to see Lisa Wilcox and Pikko del Cerro back in the show ring! Their score for the weekend in the Grand Prix de Dressage was an impressive 74.600%, while Lisa scored a second place finish with Denzello and a score of 73.200%. Lisa earned another big win aboard Ace of Clubs in the FEI Young Horse TOC with a score of 78.800%.

For the Grand Prix Speciale, Paula Matute aboard Tarpan Ymas scored 74.216%, while Devon Kane and Destiny earned a 76.875% in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

Rounding out the top scores in the Prix St. Georges FEI tests were Jon Brons and Zonneglans with a score of 71.711% riding open and Christina Vinios aboard Folkestone with a score of 74.211% in the Open Intermediare.

TOC winners riding the FEI Level or Equivalent TOC A were Juan Matute and Quantico Ymas with a score of 73.289% and Christopher Hickey and Ronaldo with a score of 73.026%. TOC winners riding the FEI Level or Equivalent TOC B were Virginia Yarur Ready and Finn with a score of 75.658% and James Koford aboard Doc Wendell MF with a score of 74.079%.

Shawna Harding had a very impressive score of 77.40% aboard Regent in the FEI 5 year old test, while Lisa Wilcox aboard Gallant Reflection HU scored 78.400% riding FEI YH Final for 6 year olds. Gallant Reflection HU, is a stallion bred for by Anne Sparks. He is by Galant du Serein out of Landina.

High score for the event was awarded to Nancy M. Smith aboard Damon’s Design HW with a huge 80.870% riding the USEF Training Level Test 1.
